Cool desk accessories : Some people like to have tidy, practically completely empty desks. It helps them to think, study and concentrate better, they say. There is nothing in their surrounding to distract them. That’s not strange, there is even a saying that says ”A cluttered desk is sign of cluttered mind”, isn’t it? Clear desktop area is free of everything that may distract you from your work or thoughts.
And there are also people who are almost incapable of functioning without a creative mess around them. Papers, books, pens, empty cups, all over the desk, all over the room. We shouldn’t blame them either, at the end even Einstein worked with a mess surrounding him (“If a cluttered desk is a sign of a cluttered mind, of what, then, is an empty desk a sign?” Yeah, those were his words).
Still, there is no need to go to such extremes. If you like tidiness and tend to keep your working area clean and free of anything that steals your attention from your work, that is commendable, really, and if it really keeps you focused, good job (and lucky you!). But that doesn’t mean you have to get rid of everything on your desk, even those little things that might help you in your work, or at least make it look nice. There is a golden mean, and that would be desk accessories.
Yes, cool desk accessories, and then you can have both: organized area for work and nothing that bothers you, and all your things, stuff you need for work from time to time, near you, at the reach of your hand.
Like drawer organizers. Don’t know if you ever though about getting them, but they’re extremely practical, and helpful. It often happens that you can find a pen or an eraser under the bunch of papers on your desk – well organizers are there to allow you to have a bit of a mess – all things in one place, together – but also to always be able to find what you need, right now, just by looking at it.
If you often classify your papers and documents, wall files (with pockets) are a convenient thing to have. No need to have piles of papers, just hang the files on the closest wall.
Desk shelves are also a good solution, especially if you have a big desk ( although they come in different sizes so you could probably find something that suits you). Just place them somewhere where they’re easy to reach but don’t come into your way).
There are so many things to help you stay organized. Pads, cups, sorters – we could go on like this forever. The most important thing is to like the place you work in, to use it easily. And these days, you can find practicly anything to help you with that in bookstores. So go, make your place special for you – and get it started!
